Fastest-growing faith app, BibleChat, raises $14M in Series A round

  • Romanian faith app BibleChat has raised $14 million in a Series A funding round led by Silicon Valley-based True Ventures.
  • Other investors include Underline Ventures, Silicon Gardens, Early Game Ventures, and Play Ventures.
  • Launched by Romanian entrepreneurs Laurentiu Balasa and Marius Iordache, BibleChat has seen remarkable growth, reaching 10 million users and generating $15 million in annualized revenue within just one year.

The app, designed for Christian communities and those seeking spiritual and emotional support, has become the fastest-growing mobile app in Europe across all categories.

BibleChat now ranks 13th among the most downloaded mobile apps on the App Store, standing alongside giants like WhatsApp and Instagram. It marks the first time a Romanian-launched app has achieved such a milestone.

We will continue the mission of Bible Chat to minimize human suffering. Millions of people depend on our team’s work monthly, and they find support in Bible Chat that helps them face life’s spiritual, emotional, and psychological challenges,” said Laurentiu Balasa, co-founder and CEO of BibleChat.

Cristian Munteanu, Managing Partner at Early Game Ventures, reflected on the company’s trajectory: “Towards the end of last year, Laurentiu sent me two screenshots that, I think, tell the story of a successful tech startup very well. The first image presented the graph of the company’s revenues in the first 4 years since launch. The second image shows the revenue graph in year 5. I kept those screenshots because they tell the story of perseverance, stubbornness, and resilience without which an entrepreneur cannot succeed.”

Dan Calugareanu, Partner at Early Game Ventures, highlighted BibleChat’s broader impact on Romania’s startup ecosystem: “And the founders, Laurentiu and Marius, also make the effort to talk to other entrepreneurs, give them advice, and help them. It is their way of contributing to the development of the startup ecosystem in Romania and giving back, as the Americans say.”

With this latest investment, BibleChat aims to further expand its reach, enhance user experience, and continue its mission of providing faith-driven support to millions worldwide.
