Microtica launches AI-enabled platform to unify DevOps tools

Microtica, the unified DevOps platform for nimble teams, announced a solution for organizations that want to avoid the cost and productivity loss of tool sprawl.

By leveraging AI across the end-to-end development process, Microtica 3.0 helps teams deploy, monitor and optimize cloud-native apps without needing to cobble together numerous point solutions.

“The reason we created Microtica was because we, as developers, were exhausted by the costs and complexity of administering a toolchain comprising more than a handful of different software vendors. We spent nearly $500K/year in people and software licenses just to keep the toolchain up and running,” said Rade Despodovski, co-founder and CEO of Microtica.

While a small number of development organizations have seemingly unlimited resources to spend on tools and headcount, most dev teams are being asked to do more with less—increase development velocity and platform observability but without an increase in budget. This puts enormous pressure on teams who need to put their best developers on mission-critical applications and prefer to rely on software rather than people to automate the development process.

Heyreach, a fast-scaling martech SaaS company, faced exactly that situation. As their cloud-native applications were scaling due to user growth, they needed to choose between hiring more people to administer the development platform or finding a technology solution that could automate the end-to-end process for them.

“We are a small team with limited resources so productivity is critical,” said Nikola Velkovski, CEO of the company. “Ideally, we wanted a single platform that could support our needs for app deployment, monitoring, and optimization. After assessing the market, we were delighted to find Microtica, and were especially pleased to discover how they leverage AI to keep improving the development process.”

Tool sprawl is extremely costly for development organizations. Not only can it be up to 5X more expensive in terms of headcount and licensing fees, there are many hidden costs that compound the problem. Each extra tool compounds the total cost of ownership (TCO) of the platform because it comes with additional integration costs, maintenance costs, training costs, and even security risks.

By streamlining the development process under a unified platform, especially one constantly improving through the use of AI, organizations can achieve dramatic cost savings. This assessment based on a Microtica customer case study demonstrates how a common DevOps platform can save an organization up to 60% compared to a tool chain consisting of separate tools for CI/CD, infrastructure provisioning, artifact registration, observability, incident management, and cost optimization.

The power of AI amplifies the benefits of a unified development platform. Not only are AI models able to work with a federated dataset to accelerate operational improvements, but the natural language processing power of AI also creates step-function innovation opportunities in how developers interact with their infrastructure.

“This year, we’ll launch a natural language interface for developers to express their performance and resource requirements for the underlying infrastructure,” Despodovski added. “We are extremely excited about harnessing the power of AI on behalf of our customers.”
