  • Georgian startup Wempler raised a $330K pre-seed round led by Czech VC Presto Ventures.
  • The investment will be used for product development and market expansion, fully penetrating the Georgian market and expanding across the CIS region.
  • Wempler connects people to local businesses and individual experts to delegate one-off tasks.

The platform connects customers with local businesses and individual experts to tackle errands, cleaning, handyman jobs, deliveries, and other everyday tasks.

According to a study by McKinsey, approximately 20-30% of the working-age population in the United States and the European Union is now engaged in some form of independent gig work. The global gig economy market was valued at $204 billion in 2018 and is projected to reach $455 billion by 2023, according to Statista

One of the company’s cofounders and its current CEO, Aleksandre Tavkhelidze started his career as a data engineer in companies such as EPAM. His entrepreneurial journey began at 19 by failing three startups, until he founded Wempler at the age of 21.

Furthermore, the gig economy and service-sharing culture has gained momentum due to the growing challenge of time scarcity that many people face in today’s fast-paced world. With increasingly hectic lifestyles, individuals often find themselves struggling to balance work, family, and personal commitments.

This time crunch has created a strong demand for services that can alleviate the burden of everyday errands and tasks and regain control over one’s schedule – which is something that Wempler aspires to do.

Getting things done

Launched in 2022 in Tbilisi, Wempler’s platform has so far successfully completed over 22,000 tasks, catering to the needs of more than 10,000 unique customers. The robust network includes a pool of over 5,700 verified and registered task-doers, ensuring a reliable and efficient service for users seeking assistance with errands, cleaning, handyman jobs, deliveries, and various everyday tasks.

“Thanks to the successful pre-seed round, we’ll be able to elevate the gig economy and introduce the concept to the wider CEE region. We’ll also continue to save thousands of hours and deliver peace of mind by providing our customers with the opportunity to delegate their errands in minutes,” Aleksandre Tavkhelidze said in a statement.

According to lead investor Presto Ventures, in the short period of just one year, Wempler and its team have been able to create a product that matches the diverse and dynamic needs of its users.

It’s always a pleasure to work with founders who are driven, bring great energy, and work relentlessly. They aren’t afraid to try many things and iterate rapidly to create the best possible product. Aleksandre, David, and Giorgi fit this founder profile perfectly. It’s why we believe in them and their vision, as they build the dominant player in this category. They simply get things done,” Roman Novacek, partner at Presto Ventures, concluded.
