SEE Tech: Rolla gets record investment, SAP opens Bucharest Lab, Yettel BG & RS is sold, Databricks opens up in Belgrade

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina-based software company Rolla has raised 6.3 million euro in a seed funding round, the largest in Central and Eastern Europe for a fitness tech startup. With the funds, Rolla plans to establish a regional development hub in Bosnia and a European commercial hub to expand into Western Europe and grow its customer base. *Source
  • German software giant SAP has opened in Bucharest an SAP Labs Site, a digital innovation hub that is meant to contribute to expanding the company’s portfolio of products and services. The Bucharest hub is part of the global R&D network. *Source
  • Dutch investment firm PPF Group NV said it agreed to divest a stake of 50% plus one share in its telecoms assets in Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia to Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Telecommunication Group Company for up to 2.5 billion euro. PPF Group owned mobile operator Yettel in Bulgaria and Serbia. *Source
  • The US government has added two spyware companies from the SEE region to its Entity List for Malicious Cyber Activities. The companies in question are the Greek company Intellexa and the Macedonian company Cytrox. American companies are prohibited to have trade relations with these companies because of security risks to the US. *Source
